Meet Captain Rorke

Captain
Rorke Miller
USCG 200 Ton Master

American Sailing Master Instructor

Captain Rorke Miller has spent more than 27 years helping people become safer, more capable and more confident on the water. A USCG 200-Ton Master and an American Sailing and American Boating Master Instructor, he has trained novice and experienced sailors, professional captains, and instructors throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and abroad.

Rorke began teaching and training instructors professionally in 1999 at one of the country’s largest sailing schools, Chicago Sailing. He later taught USCG captain’s license courses for more than a decade. His work has included private instruction, insurance qualification training, luxury chartering, offshore passages, yacht delivery, vessel management and commissioning and the development of organization-approved training programs.

His bluewater catamaran experience is both practical and personal. After overseeing the build of a 50-foot catamaran in South Africa, Rorke lived aboard for two years and sailed from the Indian Ocean, to Cape Town, across the Southern Atlantic to South America, island hopping to the East Coast and Chesapeake Bay, then transiting the Erie Canal into the Great Lakes… and back to the Caribbean—continuing to train private students along the way.

Aboard Paradigm Shift, Rorke offers private charters and personalized ASA-certified instruction. His style is professional without being formal. Charter guests can participate as much or as little as they like, while eager students receive patient, hands-on coaching built around their level of experience and objectives.

Whether someone wants an unforgettable sailing vacation, advanced catamaran training or greater confidence aboard their own boat, Rorke’s goal is simple: help people feel at confident on the water and prepare them for the next steps of their sailing goals.
